Work with me

The number is
not fixed

Most people meet their tax bill in April, when every decision that produced it is already behind them. The work I do happens before that — in the months where the number can still move. Here's what that actually looks like, who it fits, and how to find out in fifteen minutes whether it fits you.

What I do

Three lines that
compound together

Delivered through Accent Financial Services, the forty-year practice I steward. They're sold separately by most firms. They shouldn't be — each one makes the other two better.

01

Tax strategy

Engineering positions the IRS recognizes, documenting them so they survive an audit, and integrating them into one stack that compounds year over year. This is Taxsmithing — the method, not a product you log into. Planning that happens before December, so the return is a formality rather than a surprise.

02

Accounting & bookkeeping

Books you can actually make decisions from — clean, current, and reconciled to something real. Strategy built on books nobody trusts is just a guess with better formatting, which is why this usually comes first.

03

Fractional CFO

The finance cadence a growing business needs before it can justify a full-time CFO: forecasting, capital structure, and someone in the room who reads the numbers the way an owner does — because I read my own the same way.

The engagement

What actually happens

No mystery, no discovery-call theatre. Four steps, and you can stop after any of them.

1 · Fifteen minutes, free. You tell me what you're running and what's bothering you. I tell you, plainly, whether there's room to move and roughly how much. If there isn't, I say that — it's a shorter call and you keep your money.

2 · I look at the actual documents. Last year's return, the entity structure, the books as they stand. Not a questionnaire. The entity type alone decides whether half the strategies people read about online are even available to you, and that's not something you can answer from a form.

3 · You get the number and the plan. Specific positions, what each is worth, what documentation each one requires, and what it costs to implement. In writing, before you commit to anything ongoing.

4 · We run it, or you take it elsewhere. The plan is yours either way. Most people stay because implementation is the hard part and the documentation is what makes it survive scrutiny — but I'd rather hand you a good plan you execute somewhere else than keep a client who's quietly unhappy.

If there's no room to move, that's a shorter call and you keep your money.

On the credential

I'm an MSCTA — a Main Street Certified Tax Advisor. I'm not a CPA and not an EA. When a matter genuinely needs one, or needs an attorney, I say so and bring one in rather than stretching past what I'm qualified to carry. Twenty-five years across accounting, IT and tax is what I actually have, and it's enough for most of what owners bring me.

Fit

Who this is for
and who it isn't

A good fit

  • Owner-operators running a real business, not a side project
  • Anyone with an entity structure they inherited and have never questioned
  • Hotel, restaurant and hospitality groups — I closed those books for sixteen years
  • Real estate agents and 1099 contractors who've outgrown a shoebox of receipts
  • People who'd rather do the boring thing for ten years than the clever thing for one

Not a good fit

  • Looking for someone to sign off on something aggressive
  • A W-2 return with no business, no property, and no complexity — you don't need me
  • Wanting the strategy without the documentation. The documentation is the strategy
  • Hoping the plan works without changing anything about how you operate

Next step

Fifteen minutes

Long enough to tell whether there's room to move in your situation, and short enough that it costs you nothing to find out. If there isn't room, I'll say so on the call rather than after an invoice. Bring the shape of the problem — the documents come at step two.

Hotel or restaurant group? That runs through Dayspring Hospitality, and the same call still works.
